Liebe Freunde des gepflegten Rundumklangs,

es gibt derzeit haufenweise Ankündigungen über Surround-Rereleases:

Jethro Tull Aqualung - 40th Anniversary Box (Steven Wilson Master) (2CD/2DVD-Video)



The 40th Anniversary edition of Aqualung available at a budget price in the 2CD/2DVD 'book set' format of the recent JT reissues.

CD 1 contains the album mixed and mastered by Steven Wilson (the original 40th anniversary edition was not mastered by Steven). CD 2 features additional 1970 and 1971 recordings (also mixed and mastered by SW).

The DVDs include SW 5.1 surround mixes, hi-res stereo mixes, the 1974 quad mix, and flat transfers of both Aqualung and the Life Is A Long Song EP (two of the EP's tracks haven't been available in this form previously).

Includes a comprehensive 80 page booklet.

Steve Hackett: Please Don't Touch, Spectral Mornings und Defector (2CD/1DVD-Audio)


2cd / 1dvd deluxe digipak editions of three of Hackett's finest albums

Spectral Mornings and Please Don't Touch contain stereo and 5.1 Surround sound mixes by Steven Wilson, along with bonus tracks and the original album mixes remastered.

Defector contains a remaster of the original album, bonus tracks, a disc containing the Steve Hackett band (including Nick Magnus and John Hackett) live at the Reading Festival in 1980, and a pseudo 5.1 Surround Sound Up-mix derived from the original stereo masters.

Anm: die Surroundmixe gab es bisher nur in der 14-Disc-Box "Premonitions". Unklar ist noch, was mit dem Debutalbum "Voyage of the Acolyte" ist, da ist in der Box ebenfalls ein Pseudo-Surround-Mix vorhanden.

Anthony Phillips - Wise After The Event (3cd/1dvd)

A deluxe and definitive 2016 Esoteric label re-issue of Anthony Phillips charming 1978 album (3 CD/1 DVD in a clamshell box).

Produced by Rupert Hine, the album was a more lavish, textured and song-orientated affair than its pastoral predecessor The Geese And The Ghost.

Blending Progressive ambition with accessible songwriting and delicate acoustic interludes,the album's guest players included Michael Giles, Mel Collins and John G Perry.

This deluxe edition features a 2016 stereo mix of the album, a newly re-mastered version of the 1978 stereo mix, a CD of demos, out-takes and extras, and a DVD (NTSC Region Free) of a 2016 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the album.

The lavishly illustrated booklet includes an essay by Jonathan Dann featuring interviews with Anthony Phillips and Rupert Hine.

Steven Wilson - 4 1/2 (Blu-ray)


An interim release between Hand. Cannot. Erase. and his next album, Steven Wilson's 4 ½ comprises 6 tracks with a total running time of 37 minutes.

Four of the songs originated during the sessions for Hand. Cannot. Erase. and one from the recording sessions for The Raven That Refused To Sing. The final track is a new version of Don't Hate Me - a song recorded by Porcupine Tree in 1998 - based on a live recording made on the recent tour of Europe, with additional recording in the studio. The vocals on this new version are sung as a duet between Steven and Ninet Tayeb.

Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster, Craig Blundell, Marco Minnemann, Chad Wackerman and Theo Travis also contribute to 4 ½.

Blu-Ray version in an amray case with die cut slipcase and 8 page booklet photographed by Lasse Hoile and designed by Carl Glover. The blu-ray edition includes high res stereo, a 5.1 mix of the album, plus 6 bonus instrumentals and alternative mixes including a 5.1 mix of the 2015 version of Lazarus.

The Blu-Ray & vinyl editions will include a download code for the album in a choice of FLAC or mp3
